İşbank’s asset size reaches TL 2.5 trillion
With an asset size totaling TL 2.5 trillion by the end of 2023, İşbank maintains its position as “Türkiye's largest private bank".
The funds contributed by the Bank to the economy surged to TL 1.6 trillion by the close of 2023, comprising TL 1.2 trillion in cash loans and TL 427.3 billion in non-cash loans. Thereby, İşbank maintained its status as the leading private bank in contributing to the national economy.
Continuing to be the primary choice of savers with its widespread distribution network, digital service points, wide product range and high quality service delivery, İşbank's total deposit volume reached TL 1.6 trillion by the end of 2023. TL deposits surged by 128.1% compared to the end of 2022, reaching TL 880.6 billion.
İşbank CEO Hakan Aran commented on the financial results for year-end 2023, stating, “This year, we will celebrate our 100th anniversary with great enthusiasm and excitement. As we embark on our second century, we remain committed to supporting the national economy as a pioneering and leading bank, striving to create sustainable, long-term value. Furthermore, we will continue our contributions to education, sports, science, environment, arts and culture.
In 2023, the Bank recorded a total net profit of TL 72.3 billion, while its shareholders' equity surged by 40% compared to the end of 2022, reaching TL 267.8 billion. İşbank maintained its solid capital structure, with a capital adequacy ratio of 21.6%.
Sustainability initiatives aligned with international standards
The Bank, conducting its operations and obligations in sustainability at international standards, and viewing sustainability-focused medium and long-term financing as an essential aspect of its strategic objectives, finalized a syndicated loan linked to sustainability. The loan amounted to USD 915 million, marking the largest syndicated loan transaction in the latter half of the year.
İşbank signed a loan deal with a value of USD 67 million and EUR 75 million, partnering with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), PROPARCO, and Green for Growth Fund (GGF). Furthermore, the Bank facilitated sustainability-linked treasury funding totaling USD 230 million and introduced a two-year green bond worth TL 500 million, marking the first issuance of a green debt instrument in TL within the sector in Türkiye.
Special projects for the Bank's 100th anniversary
Recognizing its responsibilities towards the country, İşbank is undertaking numerous projects in celebration of its centennial anniversary. In collaboration with İstanbul Technical University (İTU), İşbank has established the “İTÜ-İşbank Marmara Active Fault Hazard and Risk Application and Research Center (MATAM)" to conduct scientific studies on the hazards and risks posed by active faults, particularly in the Marmara Region. Additionally, the Bank has initiated the “Science Workshops" project in partnership with the Petrol Ofisi Group with the goal of familiarizing children with fundamental scientific concepts through engaging experiments, thereby fostering their interest and curiosity in science and technology. The project aims to engage 750,000 children aged 8 to 13 from public schools, both within earthquake-stricken areas and across other provinces, by the conclusion of 2025.
In order to support students affected by the February 6 earthquake disasters in continuing their education, the Bank will construct the “Hatay Defne İşbank High School" and the “Hatay Defne İşbank 100th Anniversary Kindergarten." Furthermore, as an official supporter of the Turkish Olympic Committee (TMOK), the Bank stands in solidarity with promising young athletes set to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
