İşbank recognized as Global Leader in climate action


İşbank's 2023 Climate Change Program Reporting within the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) framework achieved an “A" rating, positioning the bank among the Global Leaders.

İşbank, committed to sustainability as a top strategic priority, has secured its position on the A list of the Carbon Disclosure Project's (CDP) 2023 Climate Change Program. This recognition underscores the Bank's dedication to fostering the transition to low-carbon economy and combating climate change through tangible actions.

Commenting on the achievement, İşbank's Deputy Chief Executive and Sustainability Leader, İzlem Erdem, remarked, “Attaining global leadership status, indicative of our efforts, our approach and activities in combating climate change, reflects the extensive work we have dedicated in this field for a long time.İzlem Erdem continued her words by stating that since 2019, İşbank has been part of the CDP Climate Change program, and since 2021, the Bankhas also engaged in the CDP Water Security Program, contributing transparent information on sustainable water resource management. Erdem further went on to add:

“We are delighted to have attained the top-tier 'A' Leadership rating in the Climate Program and an 'A-' Leadership rating in the Water Security Program. Our efforts to combat climate change have been further accelerated by the 2030 emission reduction targets we set in 2023 in the power generation, cement, and iron and steel sectors, aligning with our Net-Zero Banking Alliance commitments. Being recognized as a leader in the CDP Climate Change and Water Security Programs reaffirms our commitment to sustainability and the strides we are making in that direction.  As we commemorate our centennial anniversary this year, we remain dedicated to initiating new endeavors inspired by our founding principles and consistently striving to set higher standards."

 

About CDP

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an international organization founded in 2000 with the aim of assisting publicly traded companies in disclosing how they utilize the natural resources and natural capital, how their operations impact the reproductivity and overall sustainability of finite resources, and how they handle opportunities and risks in such domain to investors. As of today, 746 investors who are signatories to the CDP, collectively representing USD 136 trillion in assets, mandate companies to disclose their environmental data through the CDP platform.
